Role Summary

Summit Technical is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to support our day-to-day facility operations. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager (FM), you will be an essential on-site presence responsible for the efficient management, operation, and maintenance of all building equipment and operating systems. At the direction of the FM, you will perform necessary services to maintain and enhance the value, operational efficiency, and physical appearance of the property.

We are looking for a dedicated trades expert. While you do not need to be a master of every discipline listed below, you must possess strong proficiency and hands-on experience in at least one core subcategory. Multi-trade experience across two or more of these areas is highly preferred.

Core Trade Disciplines

  • Electrician: Experience spanning residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, with specific exposure to power generation (generators) and Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS).
  • Plumber: Experience maintaining residential and commercial plumbing systems, including hands-on well maintenance and septic systems.
  • HVAC: Experience managing and maintaining residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC/refrigeration systems.
  • Diesel Mechanic / Generator Technician: Technical experience focusing specifically on the service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CAT generators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Critical Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee routine monitoring, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs for core facility systems, including HVAC, electrical infrastructure, power generators, and physical security assets.
  • Facilities & Project Support: Assist with ongoing building interior and grounds upkeep, coordinate construction improvement initiatives, and execute specialized maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Budgeting & Operational Reporting: Partner with the Facility Manager (FM) to prepare annual capital and operational budgets, track property utility systems, and compile data for monthly status reports.
  • Documentation & Records Management: Maintain highly organized filing systems for all facility correspondence and reports, while assisting in the development and upkeep of Building Operations and Tenant Manuals.
  • Compliance, Safety & Inspections: Ensure all operations strictly align with building codes and local regulations, support annual fire prevention and safety inspections, and properly utilize job-specific PPE.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience & Technical Expertise: 10+ years of relevant facilities or trade experience, featuring specialized troubleshooting and repair skills in at least one core discipline (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, energy management, or diesel repair).
  • Technical Knowledge & Compliance: Strong familiarity with blueprints, building codes, architectural terminology, and navigating competitive vendor bidding procedures.
  • Communication & Professionalism: Exceptional work ethic, integrity, and interpersonal skills to deliver top-tier customer service and interface effectively with senior management, staff, and vendors.
  • Operational & Physical Resilience: Proven ability to work independently and reliably under stressful conditions, including meeting physical demands like carrying 50 pounds up stairs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Safety & Health Certifications: Possess or maintain the ability to obtain current First Aid, CPR, and AED/defibrillator credentials.
  • Licensing & Compliance: Active OSHA Certification and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Technical Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with a basic knowledge of computer and IT systems.
